Who will I marry?

Has not the Lord made them one?
In flesh and spirit they are his.
And why one? Because he was
seeking godly offspring.

MALACHI 2:15

When I was in high school, I wondered who I would marry. "What will he look like? Where will he be from? Do I currently know him?" Of course, tops on my list of husband criteria was for him to be handsome, tall, and with an athletic build. It was a given that he would be a Christian.

At the advice of a missionary's wife, I later wrote every attribute I wanted in a husband and began to pray to God for a man with all of these attributes. My lengthy list ranged from as serious as being God-fearing, grounded in God's Word, and faithful in Christian stewardship to as fun-filled as loving to sing, taking me to McDonald's, and massaging my feet. I was faithful in dating only the boys who met the attributes on my list.

Years later, I discovered that while I was praying for the man of my list, my husband was praying for a woman that met his criteria. I don't know who you will marry, but I am confident God's desire is for you to have a godly marriage. He can bless you with a godly man. So develop your list, start praying, and remain faithful.
